The Community Action Agency of St. Louis County is presenting “Seeds of Hope”, a benefit event on Thursday, September 27, 2012, 6:30-9:30 PM at the Trolley Room in the Visitor Center in Forest Park. News Channel 5 anchor Kelly Jackson will be Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. Festivities will include an exciting evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The event features live entertainment, a silent auction, interactive displays, and live cooking demonstrations by television culinary expert Chef E.
The benefit event is an effort to help sustain CAASTLC’s expanding work to make locally produced and nutritious foods available in low income neighborhoods of the city and county. CAASTLC’s efforts currently include community gardens, nutrition education, four food pantry locations and a new urban farm. The farm project, Seeds of Hope Farm, is located in Spanish Lake and is built on the Community Supported Agriculture model.
Community supported agriculture helps individuals understand how their food is grown, make better nutritional choices and work better together. Local, seasonal produce allows community members to actively participate in the process of producing their own food.
Please join us for a fabulous fun-filled evening to benefit CAASTLC’s new farm project in Spanish Lake and community gardens.
